Raise your hand if you want your audience playing games on their phones during your next webinar.
I hope you didn’t raise your hand! So what are you doing to keep your audience focused on you during your webinars? Now more than ever, it’s vital that your webinars not be one-way lectures! You shouldn’t be doing them like everyone else, with boring slides, monologues, and Q&A at the end of the session. You need to make your webinars interactive, engaging, and memorable for your audience.
Webinars present wonderful opportunities for you to attract new business, extend your marketing, and develop new revenue streams. Let’s work together to develop your next webinar!
Webinar Development Checklist
Polls can give you some great information
A quick poll can give you valuable audience insights. You can learn how much prior experience an audience has with your subject, their familiarity with technical terms, and how much they enjoy some things but not others. There’s no end to the kinds of questions you can ask that will inform your webinar presentation and allow you to personalize the experience for each audience!
Breaking the “I talk, they listen” cycle
Do you like being lectured to? Neither does your audience. Communication is a two-way street so it’s important for you as a webinar presenter to give your audience a chance to speak and/or ask questions. Stopping your presentations every so often for some face-to-face interaction helps you to develop a better rapport
Vocal variety
It’s easy to slip into a monotone when you can’t see your audience. But adding a little vocal variety—changing your pitch, tone, and pace—can keep things lively.
Using the right slides
Webinar slides need to be clear, uncomplicated, and well designed. And you often need more slides in a webinar because they transition more quickly than they do during in-person classes. Remote audiences will not put up with a presenter that does little more than read their slides. And if slides are too complex, then your message will be lost.
Having fun!
From trivia games to interactive whiteboards, giving the audience a brain break every once in a while will be a refreshing change of pace. Spoiler alert: you can structure these breaks to reinforce your message. They’ll still be learning even while they think they’re goofing off!
Now that you know how important it is to be an exciting, engaging webinar presenter, let’s work together to make your next webinar a great one!
